I have been mostly silent about this one because its just not the design I was hoping for a super tall. That's not saying I don't like it, but other than the height and the impact on the skyline, I'm going to have to wait until completion before I render my opinion.

Yeah, the whole UT look is def not my favorite thing for such a big city monument, but I think it will get broken up with the blue/green glass and wood features.

I’m worried that’ll just end up making it look like a jumbled mess with unharmonious and discordant details.

I only wish we had more original designs/shapes for the supertalls. Something iconic (e.g. Austonian, Frost Tower) and not a variation of what's in other cities (e.g. The Independent, Block 185).

Something that's truly unique --- other than rectangular blocks (currently being built all over the city) which lack distinct crowns --- would be refreshing.

This building is literally a trendsetter and an Austin icon in process. It melds to the creek and lake. It acknowledges Austin and is nothing like anything we have seen. Most of the garage is underground. It accentuates the mouth of the creek with bridges and access. It sits at an amazing angle. It is a supertall. What else do you want?
Im getting tired of the whiners on this forum. If you don't have anything nice to say, momma said stfu.

So far, I like it. I wasn't sure about the shape at first, but I think it'll be better than most. I also really do like the facade and I'm glad it's different than just blue glass again. This tower is going to stand out, and not just for the height, but because of the color and texture of the facade. Look at the Hanover towers and 360 Condos. Those buildings stand out, as does Northshore. Different is good now that our skyline is considerably larger than it was just a short while ago.

Btw, had the chance to make a quick video:

I just realized The Travis has some curve/angle to the facade. I had no idea until I saw it in your video.

I had such a hard time with that slight curve while creating the diagram for The Travis. I’m still not satisfied with how it turned out. Even now, I’m assuming I’ll have to resubmit the diagram once the tower is complete because of its top. Even this far along, there are zero good renderings of The Travis that show the top of the tower that aren’t covered in shadow.

Yep, it's taken me a bit but I've definitely come to this conclusion as well. I think it'll definitely be iconic -- and soon to be the building Austin is most associated with. Definitely also polarizing. The design isn't straightforward and throws a lot of traditional tower aesthetics on their ear. But I agree that there's a lot to love, and they've been very thoughtful about how it will eventually interact with the creek.

If you haven't come downtown and done a drive-by, it's completely worth it. Seeing how it ties into its surroundings is really eye opening.

Momma's point was about saying nice things about people, not about inanimate objects. Her underlying objective was to make sure you don't hurt people's feelings. Inanimate objects don't have feelings. Don't get your panties in a twist and take your own advice: if you don't have something nice to say (about the whiners), momma said: STFU.

I have plenty of nice things to say, about plenty of things, and voice them when I do. Maybe learn how to deal with differences of opinion instead of telling people to STFU?

I agree with everything you said, but this is a public discussion forum and we're allowed to whine For example, I think I have whined about 10,000 times each time an ungly parking podium proposal with lazy screening shows up. I need some wine!

I regret that last sentence. I apologize. I do not believe I was targeting you looking back to recent comments. Friends? Fist bump

I love the verbiage. Envisioning the space outside the box.

Well, I do believe I was the only person complaining recently above and in some other threads, too. So I took it a bit personally.

I forgive you.

Can we, please, go back to hating on questionable architectural attributes instead of each other?

Second video - let me know which y'all think is the best and if you're sick of my erratic flying and/or any other suggestions. I am not adding music, though.
