And in Edmonton of all places. The usual "it's too cold in Ottawa for glass towers" or "property values can't handle them" can't be used.

Different standards in Alberta? I could see Alberta have lower efficiency standards cause oil and gas.

I don't know if that's the case. Just a guess.

Hmm, I would have guessed the opposite. Ontario has a far greener energy system, I would have guessed standards would be stricter in Alberta than Ontario. I've never looked into it, but I have noticed a lot more glass in green energy rich Quebec vs Ontario for example.

Saw an instagram post from Hazelview Properties that says this building is now at 85% leased occupancy. Maybe they'll want to move on Phase 2 sooner.

Well at this point just look at it as added density and more housing units in a time of housing crisis. The aesthetics is only one aspect of a housing development.
