At SSP, we only care about the full structural height.

That image you posted is cool, but I can't make out any of the numbers on it.

Even 1,100 wouldn't have been "amazing" or in the top 5 tallest in the city. Our standards seem to have sunk deeply.

Sorry, to end my negative rant I'm still happy, I'm excited to see the silver like materials used on this one. I wonder if there will be a mockup.

Just a few weeks ago some of us were worried that there would be no ~495 ft tall towers under construction in the city for the foreseeable future after 1000M topped out. This project continues the 5 year streak of >800 ft tall towers being built in the city and bridges the gap until the next boom which hopefully will include Tribune East and Parcel I.
Are there no other 500+ footers in the pipeline? Not even considering all of the developments in the West loop + North side?

Goose Island? Moody Bible Campus...? Just to name a few...

984.30 ft (>300 m) versus 984.20 ft (<300 m) would be an immensely significant difference as only the former would increase the city's tally of supertalls, but 875 ft versus 850.9 ft is an insignificant difference. So, this reduction does not bother me at all. Like others, I am pleased that it remains >800 ft and that construction is virtually guaranteed to happen soon, just in time to keep the >800' construction boom going.

I think you came up with the "5 year streak" due to One Bennett Park, which was completed in 2018. But don't forget that its construction started in early 2016, so the streak has really been 7.5 years. Construction of the 851-footer at 400 N LSD will extend the streak to 11 years, based on BVictor1's forecast of construction lasting 3 1/2 years. If Parcel I and Tribune East also proceed, we could be looking at >15 years!

I'm not necessarily upset that it's +20' lower because I like the design quite a lot. The conundrum is I just wish the entire development was 200-400' taller, especially for such a prominent point along the lakeshore.

Yeah this is decent, not amazing. I think the economy is too slow right now for anything to dazzle us with height right now.

Bingo.

The lending environment, construction costs, tougher ARO requirements, macro economic headwinds... things are definitely tougher than they were four years ago.

I'll say it again: I'm surprised we are getting anything at this time. Fulton Market, our hottest RE submarket, has one crane up right now...

Fingers crossed this isn’t VE’d to hell, especially the terra-cotta.

Still exciting that Chicago can keep putting these buildings up given the current climate.

Excited to see another 800ft+ skyscraper coming soon to Chicago!

Since they are just building one of the towers now, do you guys think there is any chance that if/when they build the other tower, it could be taller? Obviously it would be nice to get a megatall or just something taller than the Sears Tower, but it would still be awesome even if they simply upscaled the south tower back to the original height of 1,100ft. Or will we have to wait for Tribune East Tower for Chicago to get another 1,000+ footer assuming it eventually starts construction in 2024?
