Nice to see someone is updating the list of towers on the building list for Windsor.
Riverside (farhi) 297ft
Vertical Forest tower on Goyeau
Ginacho Gardens 176ft on the east end
Inspiration Tower downtown 171ft

All recently added to the list.
The Goyeau towers are the only ones listed without a height.

CBC site towers also. If that's still a go.

I don't see the CBC site towers on that list.
The other one I did miss tho was the Sandwhich street apartments on the far west end near the Gordie Howe Bridge.

Came across this article and found something interesting, it mentions the need for a grade separated interchange at Manning Road and County Road 22 (EC Row Expressway) within the next five years because of all of new major developments and population growth. Its the first time hearing anything about it, and I always wondered when they would upgrade that section out in the county to an actual grade separated expressway like it is through the city.

Lesperance is probably due soon. And what's in the plan for Banwell?

I'm much more familiar with the evolution of land uses and traffic along Manning Rd., but it always seemed odd to me that E.C. Row sort of just "ends" a couple hundred metres west of Lesperance and has not yet been extended eastward with interchanges at some of the arterials.

Yes I heard them talking about it on the radio this morning as well.

Banwell, Lesperance and Manning are all due for grade separation.
There's no reason for traffic lights on such a thoroughfare at this point.

I just hate how there seems to be no conversation about it until after some "report" comes out when common sense and blatantly obvious situations that the general public has been asking for, for many years in some cases.

Like, county road 42 (airport road) has been in need of 4 lanes for at least 15 years... but lets wait until absolutely necessary to discuss it.

Yeah, they definitely need an interchange at Lesperance as well. It’s only in the city limits that EC Row is a full freeway, but all of the growth in the eastern suburbs is really putting pressure on finally extending it further.

Depending on the time of day the drive out to Lakeshore via expressway/22 is a nightmare. Back ups at every light. Lakeshore is the fastest growing municipality. It's about time the county steps up.

^ The county will never step up. The city shouldn't spend the money doing an EC Row / Banwell interchange considering that would primarily benefit county residents. The real solution here is to lobby the province to upload the expressway. The city shouldn't have the burden of maintaining the expressway since it has essentially become a regional road that greatly benefits people in the suburbs who pay nothing to maintain it.

Maybe its time to start beating the drums for amalgamation again. Would resolve the petty bickering over issues this.

I think the tower for Goyeau is DOA if you ask me. Pie in the sky dreams.

Thats fine & dandy, but they will still need proper grade separation for Lesperance and Banwell. Lesperance; good luck, there's a cemetary immediately adjacent. The whole stretch is a mess, and the mess continues into the city on E.C. Row.

...but they're going to widen it now that they forcibly shoe-horned the new hospital out there on some greenfield sites.

The upgrade will happen at the intersection given the new battery plant is right there, its inevitable now.

There's too much anti-Windsor sentiment in the county for them to capitulate, hence the solution we got last time at the round of amalgamations and annexations that happened in Ontario.

It doesn't need to be a full parclo interchange. A slim diamond may fit there. Or maybe just an overpass, since Banwell and Manning are each fairly close by.

My dad got his engineering degree at UWindsor in the 1960s. One of his summer jobs was with the city when they were designing portions of the E.C. Row, and he got to work on some of that. I should ask him about what was considered back then for the eastern segments, though I imagine planning wasn't in play just yet given Windsor's urban area of the time.

County never wanted to pay a share of interchange at Banwell so it never happened way back when the expressway was built.
Lesperance should just be grade separation without any access. Manning should be interchange. Banwell and Manning would handle the traffic. Politically though there will be a lot of noise out of the town if Lesperance doesn't have access.

When the province extends Lauzon Parkway to the 401 they will likely have to consider some improvements to the Expressway/Parkway interchange as well.

Yes the province should take over the Expressway and they should designate it Hwy 439 after the former Hwy 39 that ran up Banwell out to the county. That number has a history in the Windsor to Belle River area.

Recently, we couldn't even agree on regional waste management. Also, the county refused to support the battery plant project when asked by the city. Windsor did it on its own. At the very least Windsor should absorb Tecumseh and Lasalle.

Probably not.

Essex County amalgamated as "Windsor" could become much like Hamilton and Ottawa -- very urban "old city" cores surrounded by suburbia and rural hinterlands, all with their own needs and interests. Even if it's a partial amalgamation that leaves Essex, Leamington, Kingsville, Belle River, Amherstburg, etc. on their own.

In Hamilton the lower city wards (downtown plus areas west and east below the escarpment) are very different than the "mountain" wards, which are again different from most of the ones that make up the former suburban towns and cities that comprised the Region of Hamilton-Wentworth (Stoney Creek, Glanbrook, Ancaster, Dundas, and Flamborough). It's been more than two decades since the region was amalgamated into the City of Hamilton, but the old battle lines are still clear.

Might be best to have the city annex parts of Essex County, as inter777 suggests.

Tecumseh and LaSalle both being towns of +30k pop. would they actually be up for amalgamation or are they considered to developed to just be absorbed by Windsor.
My mind would be blown, the day that anything changes around here
Asking out of legitimate curiosity/lack of understanding.
