Flaccid it is. Needs some Lauren Boebert/Beetlejuice attention.

Crane, Take 2

Looks like they are taking another stab at raising the crane.

Nice! And you see room for 4-5 more towers in that shot alone, too.

They've had such a time getting this crane erected.

My question is, will the power lines be removed upon completion?

I believe that is now a requirement, right?

My guess is there might have been a structural issue with the tower crane's original concrete base. The base is a massive steel-reinforced concrete block, and if a defect was discovered, the whole thing would have had to be replaced. The time elapsed since the first mast sections were removed seems to match the time it would have taken to build and cure a new concrete base before restarting the tower mast. Again, that's my uneducated guess.

Yes, that's required now. They will probably remove them much earlier than that.

LOL - the panic surrounding this development and reacting to every little sneeze is hilarious

Calm down

I drove by yesterday - lots of activity - excited to see this big boy rise - how long does a building this large take? 2 years?

I hope they remove them and on other side of street too. They are ugly as hell and take up a high percentage of the sidewalk to boot.

Erection and full on crane head.

Yep - that was what was going on yesterday I think - they had a full squad over there when I drove by, just didn't want to take a pic and crash into a building lol

Exciting

You can see this on the Stella Cam, far left in the gap. I have a feeling that there will be at least two more cranes here.

Fully agree but would not hold my breath. We probably have to wait until the other side of the street gets re-developed. Someday.

Perhaps there is some interesting historical context that makes sense, but on the face of it those poles right in the middle of the sidewalk truly do seem stupid as heck. It's as though someone put them there just to F*** with the neighborhood.

Notice the 2 workers at the bottom.

Now this is the way all construction sites should treat pedestrians. They even paved the path to make it smooth. Thanks for being considerate.

New Yorkers like to avoid calls from Cellini and Barnes (1-888-888-8888). I’m surprised other contractors are not as concerned about pedestrian safety, however it seems to be better these days than 10 years ago
