The third reading for rezoning of 384 Lancaster Avenue has been approved at tonight’s council meeting. So that means JYSK can now begin their conversion of the building into one of their retail store locations. Opening is scheduled for early Spring 2024.

The rumor is that Jysk is also planning SJ as a distribution hub. With this location's proximity to the Port, that certainly makes a lot of sense.
Apparently an employee of Maurices in Fredericton has confirmed that Saint John is getting a location. They are just unsure where exactly. https://www.maurices.com/
It appears Habitat For Humanity Restore is going to be leasing the space next to Cineplex, (former Hart Home). They are moving to here, not opening another location.
Recently sources are saying that Canadian department store chain, Simons, is looking at Saint John (McAllister Place), Fredericton (Regent Mall), and Dieppe (CF Champlain) as possible cities for locations. Nothing concrete or official yet, just that they've expressed interest in all three NB cities. Would be cool if they opened a location here.

Interesting. With Jysk and others, SJ has been pulling in a lot of single NB retail locations, so would be great to see another one. I don't think Simons services any cities as small as NB however, the location location is set to open in a few months in the Halifax Shopping Center.
So I went to Facebook, and asked a question of Sounds Fantastic, today, and it went like this...
'Say...SF, have you considered opening a store in Saint John? There's a sizable retail zone in the city's East Side where you could plant a flag.'
Their reply was such...
'It’s certainly something we’d like to explore in the future'.

They have a pretty niche market to the point where one location most likely is sufficient for NB. With online shopping and the major chains, I suspect they are feeling a lot of pressure. They would have a number of competitors in the Halifax market.
Griffin Jewellery Designs is now open at McAllister Place, (former People's). This is their 2nd NB location, (recently opened at Regent Mall in Fredericton).
They did really a great job renovating this unit. A huge improvement compared to what it looked like before.
Looks like YOYOSO is coming to SJ. A source has said that an employee of the new Fredericton, (Regent Mall), location told them yesterday that Saint John will be getting a location but not Moncton. Most likely will be at McAllister Place.
Avant Garde Construction and Management posted progress update pictures of the new Popeyes Chicken on Golden Grove Road. Opening is supposed to be the end of the month.
Pizza Studio has permanently closed at East Point Shopping Center. This was their only location in Atlantic Canada.
It closed long ago. Unfortunately it was a target of the F#ck Trudeau like group that is against digital ID whatever the hell that is. Pizza Studio had gone cashless only accepting cards, therefore this group targeted them to destroy their business. Not sure if this was partly the cause or the cause, but I’m sure it didn’t help especially with 2 other pizza places opening just down over the hill.

Yeah all that probably didn't help. But apparently construction has already started for a new tenant. Apparently Vito's is opening a takeout only location in this spot. This is to replace the Rothesay Avenue location that closed long ago.
The Nest Yoga is now open! at 22 King Street uptown. Right now it's only the retail boutique that's open. They sell products from brands like Lululemon, Indyeva, prAna, Saks, and more.
