I happened upon this PHENOMENAL cabinet card on eBay about five days ago. The seller didn't denote the location but the seller's other photographs were mostly of Los Angeles
so I thought this one might be as well.

Just for fun, I tried to develop some information on the people listed, using the CDs and the newspapers a bit. Going by the data below, a year of ca. 1895 seems to fit.
In the order as above:
Mamie Ryan is what it says, but I think this was dressmaker
Maggie Ryan, who lived with Julia Ryan at 451 S. Los Angeles in 1893-4-5-6-7, moving to 900 Temple in 1898, when Julia Ryan changed jobs to become a saleswoman (see below).
Anna/Annie McNiff, waitress Corfu (130½ S. Spring), residence corner Buena Vista and Temple (CD1891); waitress Abbotsford Inn, residing on the premises (CD1896).
Baker Too many bakers in town to figure this one out!
James Jacobson July 28, 1910,
LA Herald, a bartender James Jacobson was involved in a brawl at 113 E. 1st St.; less likely, Sven J. Jacobson, watchmaker and jeweler, office 106 W. 2nd, residence Mitchell Place near Prospect Park, Boyle Heights, later 526 E. 6th, etc., was around for several years 1890-1924.
Candy Maker In 1895, a Frederick Griffin was listed as a candy maker at the Corfu, where (see above) Annie McNiff also worked; but in 1895, the CD lists no fewer than 19 candy makers in the city.
Grandma Haverstick probably Henrietta Haverstick, widow, 641 S. Spring (CD 1884)–741 S. Spring; (CD 1897); still there as a sub-lessor in March of 1901, refusing to leave and so being sued (
LA Herald); alas she died May 26, “at 741 San Julian street,” age 83, acute gastritis (5/30/1901,
LA Herald).
Bell Starke Mrs. Isabella Stark, waitress, 16 Church Lane (CD 1896), not listed 1895 or 1897.
Mrs. Myrtle Bechtle (Bechtel?), not listed anywhere, perhaps a sister of Luke D. Bechtel (his wife was Liza, who died March 16, 1895), who (a “clerk,” evidently a law-clerk) in 1891 resided at 321 S. Broadway, 1892–4, now attorney, residing at 118 S. Olive; 1895, moved to 1708 S. Grand; 1896, 837 Montreal.
Ollie Woolard Looks like
Pollard, but: J.O. Woolard, clerk, 112 N. Spring, CD 1892; as John O. Woolard, still there in 1897; 1898, at 16 Church Lane; 1899, at 326 W. 2nd; 1901 waiter, living at 309 Temple; 1902, 321 California St., in ad testifying as to painless tooth extraction; 1903, selling his “good paying lunch counter” for $350 due to ill health, ev. at 461 S. Spring; 1905, transferring lot 2 of the Rudge Tract to Angeline J. Rudge; 1905, getting permitted to build a one-story, five-room frame residence at 1359 W. Fortieth St., his own residence being at 324 California St.; 1906, waiter, Cafe Bristol, living at 1359 W. 40th; 1907, waiter, living at 1256 E 21st; 1908, 1909 same; 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913 waiter, res. 2271 W. 16th; 1914, 1915 waiter, res. 515 1/2 W. 8th, also there Myrtle; 1918, still there; 1921, steward, back at 2271 W. 16th; 1922, dropped the "John" and is Ollie, steward, at 987 S. Catalina; 1923, 1924 "John" is back, same address; 1926, caterer, 989 1/2 S. Catalina; 1929, 1930 John & Myrtle at same; 1932, wife Maggie, with John O. Jr. West Gate Coffee Shop; 1936, still at Catalina; 1938, waiter, same address; 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942 same address.
Julia Ryan, waitress, 1892–7 at 451 S. Los Angeles; 1898, still there, but now “saleswoman Greenwood Baking Co.”; 1899, residing at 463 N. Los Angeles St., saleswoman for A.P. Bond; gone 1900.
Mr. Gardner Theo. A. Gardner; 1883, confectionary at 230 N. Main; 1886, same business address, residence in “LaDow dist."; 1887, business at 12 N. Spring, residence at “Western Av., nr Santa Monica RR”; 1888, had a restaurant (“ice cream and lunch parlors”) at 12 N. Fair Oaks in Pasadena; 1890, manager Keystone Ice Cream at 13 (113) N. Main, residence Western Ave 1/4 mile south of Santa Monica RR; 1892, business now at 112 N. Spring; 1895, residence “Western av, bet W. Santa Monica and W Vernon avs”; 1896, evidently dead, business being run by wife/widow (Agnes); 1899, she resided at 449 S. Hill, continuing 1900 and that’s where I stop. Very numerous ads/commercial mentions in the
LA Times starting in 1882 (“First-class Confectionary and Ice Cream Parlor, Gardner’s, 36 Main street, under Grand Central Hotel”).
