Here’s a photo of girder installation progress in @CityofSurrey from September 7!

Steel girders are being installed over Hwy 17 to connect completed bridge foundations. These girders will support the future bridge deck.

Cable anchor boxes:

The boxes seen in the bottom left corner of this photo are “stay cable anchor boxes,” which are being installed on the bridge tower.
Stay cables supporting the bridge deck will be held in place by the anchor boxes.

The government has approved of a farewell party on the old Patullo before it gets taken apart. I couldn’t help but laugh… a party organized by the NDP would be one hell of a lame party lol.

Looks wide enough for 6 lanes, even though it's only 4 (unless there's a merge lane there).

They are just installing the retaining walls and supporting piers just west of the Pattullo Bridge to transfer BC Highway 17 above the rail train track line.

Nice pic, thanks!

A few other pics from the Project twitter page:

October 3rd:

This shot from the end of August was taken from the Fraser River, looking south toward Surrey. Bridge piers S2, S3, and S4 can be seen – these piers will support the bridge approach in @CityofSurrey

October 12th:

Crews in @CityofSurrey are hard at work on pier S6!
In this photo, a concrete pour is underway to form the pier cap, which will support the future bridge deck.

September 29th:

Here’s a view of pier S8 in @CityofSurrey – this month, crews installed 7 steel girders over this pier.
Located in the centre of Highway 17, pier S8 will support the future bridge deck in Surrey.

Since it's over the highway, I'd guess it's because of the merge lanes.

Still, it'd be nice for them to be all "oops, made it too wide. Might as well have six lanes after all."

Schedule status has dropped to 'red' in the September monthly report.

"Schedule-related risks are being monitored. The Project has been subjected to significant challenges including supply chain issues. The Contractor is actively working to mitigate impacts."

Here’s an aerial view of the bridge alignment!

In the foreground you can see piers N1 and N2 in @New_Westminster.

In the background you can see @CityofSurrey and the main bridge tower, which now has 26 out of 33 segments complete!

Great pic.
You can see how the approach curve will be much shallower.

will there need to be a long closure to make the bridge and old approach lineup?

Based on this pic, it looks like the cut-over area (Surrey side) will be on dirt, so that would provide some flexibility on temporary lane allignments.

They'll probably do it in stages.
-connect new EB lanes.
-shift EB traffic to new bridge.
-deconstruct old EB lanes and connect new WB lanes in their place.
-shift WB traffic to new bridge.
