Nice catch. I put a copy of the elevations in a photo editor and added gridlines. I came up with 2' more feet.

This hasn't been posted yet, but back in May the CC approved the zoning change for the additional FAR that was needed beyond what the Density Bonus allowed.

When do we think this one will get started and break ground? Do they have to wait for 700 River to almost finish up before starting on this?

I believe they were planning to start construction this fall. It's possible that has changed by now though.

Yes. The last I read was an October 2023 start with a delivery in 4Q2026.

The demand for housing is staying strong even with interest rates being what they are. This getting off the ground in these headwinds will signal austins move to a real big boy market that can build counter to headwinds.

GoldenBoot's comment on the Cambria thread made me wonder how this one will compare to 44 East, which right now dominates the SE corner of the DT skyline from I-35.

44 East is 573 ft tall

62 East is to be 686 ft tall

Crazy. We would have been happy for these heights anywhere in DT not so many years ago.

If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if the start date was pushed just to give some time for some of these other construction projects around Rainey to get closer to finished. If this started in February, there would be 3 active projects on East Ave alone, much less the 5-ish other active projects elsewhere in the Rainey area.

There have been no updates to the site plan application since last September. It gets a red highlight on my next tallest projects list update. During the past year only around 5 significant downtown projects have had any updates to their site plan applications.
