Last early AM mainline departure to YWG and last AM Q400 departure to YHZ this morning.

I drove by the airport on Riverside Thursday and got to see the two widebodies side by side at the gate, it was cool to see. That was the last day of 789 ops on YOW-YVR. IIRC last winter when it was on that route a few days a week, it was on days when AC wasn't running it on YVR-CUN. This winter they've increased it to daily so I'd be surprised if it makes an appearance at all this winter.

Both inbound and outbound AF flights cancelled today? Does anyone knows why?

I looked on their flight status page and it said "due to an unforeseen change to the flight schedule". First time it's been cancelled since launch over 3 months ago I believe.

It was presented to the passengers at CDG as "a problem with the aircraft"

Looks like Toronto to California on PD will be announced soon

https://www.flyporter.com/en-ca/about-porter/who-we-are/porter-and-embraer

These 2 are my biggest hopes from YOW and hopefully it will come soon.

Will need more feed from the east before LAX and SFO are feasible at YOW. Hopefully in due time once the likes of YYT, YQB & a YSJ return come online and E95 upgauges to YHZ happen.

I was surprised that only AC and Lynx (5x weekly) have non-stop YYZ-LAX, and only AC/UA on YYZ-SFO. Porter is entering crowded markets on their YYZ-Florida flights, but good to see they are chipping away at the *A monopoly on these routes. Hopefully YOW will follow this summer, even if not daily.

Do they even have any spare dash8’s for YQB? I guess if they replace YHZ with E2’s they will free up. What is the likelihood they would actually do YOW-YHZ with E2’s?

The press release for PD's LAX/SFO service mentions YOW as a feeder but the flights are only timed for a connection westbound, taking the 7:30am YOW-YYZ departure to connect to the 10:30am LAX/SFO departure.

However, both eastbound flights land at YYZ at about 10:30pm and the last YYZ-YOW flight leaves at 11pm.

While the westbound pricing is competitive with other options from YOW, it's a shame that doing a round trip on PD isn't feasible.

Actually, the press release mentions YUL, YHZ and YYT as connection options as well and all of those are in the same boat as YOW with no connection option on the eastbound journey.

Maybe they plan on adding later flights. The late evening flights on AC haven't come back and stop around 8pm so the planes must just sit there idle after that and assume you can grab some of the pay anything crowd if you are the only option.

AC has a 12:35am-1:40am YYZ-YOW flight scheduled this winter. PD adding a similarly timed flight would work for eastbound connections, but I doubt there's much O/D traffic at this hour so it might not worth their while if it's pretty much exclusively to serve LAX/SFO connections. Especially if eventually they plan on serving these destinations directly from YOW.

The AC flight is already running, as I took it a few weeks back. Entirely full the time that I took it. Standby people left waiting at the counter.

That flight is bult for connetions in Toronto. AC from 8-11PM has tons of flights coming into Toronto from the US Midwest, Caribbean, Western Canada, some big US markets like DC, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, and a few over seas flights on their partners (EVA Air for example) plus what ever is late.
AC won't have any issues filling late night flights and they probably want the plane in Ottawa to start the day.

Porter will need more connections to make a post midnight flight work.

Fare for the first week are all north of $740 one-way. Next Wednesday drops to $179.

@VaskoYOW, are you able to tell if the next week is looking full and next Wednesday at this point?
