Nah, I lived there for years. And I spent 30+ years in Calgary. Edmonton is like a language; you can't see the best of it until you immerse yourself in it. It has a fantastic outdoor nature vibe than most other major cities, particularly through the river valley. And when you don't live there anymore you really recognize it more. It's probably the people I've met through the community, festivals, and outdoor life that heightens the experience too. It's like a family there.
Really wish the pedestrian realm connecting downtown and the Byward Market/Sandy Hill area was better. It’s the downtown of a metro of a million people but it’s so car dominated.
Cuts the core it two.

Is any part of the skyline referred to as "Hull"? Have they finally banished that (English, albeit quite ugly) name to the dustbin?
I still hear 'Ile de Hull' for the area sometimes, but rarely. It's just 'Downtown Gatineau' these days usually. I have been living in the Outaouais for a third of my life.
In my experience the name Hull lives on more on the Gatineau side in the way Toronto people would talk about Rosedale or Vancouverites about Kitsilano.
Ottawa people seem more like to refer to the entire urbanized Québec side as Gatineau. Even the downtown Hull sector.
