FWIW, there was a CCD construction card from earlier this year for a $4M restaurant project in the city with an anticipated start date of September.

Now mind you, circumstances always change and nothing is a sure thing until shovels are in the ground, but I remain hopeful we may see work begin sometime this fall.

Things are definitely going to get started soon. Carnahan Construction signage has just appeared on the fencing in front of the presumed Baton Rouge site.

Also, there is very definite excavating going on right now at 1299 Main. There is also a cement truck on site pouring concrete. I imagine they are laying down the base for a tower crane.

So excited to have Baton Rouge within walking distance from where I live. The Keg isn't cutting it out for us.

The base structure for the tower crane at 1299 Main has been installed. There is also now a large mobile crane on site. I presume this will be used to install the tower and boom portions of the crane structure.

The RCMP community policing office on Main Street will apparently be operational on November 1st.

There’s a tower crane piece in the ground now for the Vaughn Harvey and main St development. No sign of any mobile crane now and no tower crane pieces lying on the ground.

Baton Rouge: two storeys.

Old SMT terminal.. a restaurant chain is coming. There will be a nice patio out front out amongst the trees.

Do you mean there will be a second restaurant next to Baton Rouge in the old bus terminal? Do you have any inside info?

My sources tell me that the Baton Rouge will be a new format location, with both a fine dining section, and a separate large sports pub, which might be quite popular given the proximity to the Avenir Centre. And, yes, it will be a two storey building.

I was told by a reliable source the old SMT building was going to be home to an indoor golf bar
“The Bunker Bar” I know Ottawa has one.

Yes, second restaurant next to Baton Rouge. I had not heard the golf info, but was told whatever it is will be VERY popular.

As for the Baton Rouge, sports bar/pub like mainfloor, snazzypants upper floor.

There's been a lot of new apartments constructed within walking distance of that block, and more to come over the next few years. Of course the hotel will be a major driver of business as well.

I have to admit that I'm not so sure about the golf idea. Seems like something that the novelty would wear off of quickly.

People who can afford to go to places like that would be return customers. A lot of 6 figure income folks who will frequent both the golf bar and baton rouge.

I was hoping to see a bigger development here with a Baton Rouge on the bottom, even if it was only the size of the Hyatt. I should still be happy though I guess, it's an improvement and is better than what was there previously. It's great that businesses continue to invest in our city and make it better.

Since Aquilini is a major player in the residential property market, I'm hoping that they'll take advantage of the strong demand in Moncton. There's still a lot of room along Bonaccord behind the bus terminal, and they're more than capable of creating a significant addition to their property.

I just don't know how focused they are on seizing the opportunity they have here in Moncton. But you'd have to think that they're aware of the local market.

There is now an Air Canada sign mounted prominently at the roofline of 1199 Main (old Stantec Building). Have they recently moved an office of some kind to the city? Enquiring minds would like to know.......

Interesting. Ashford owns that building. I know Air Canada has a call center in Saint John, could this be an extension of that because of the potential for bilingual employees?

Fredericton already has a similar concept going with Par94. I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be a success in Moncton. Golf community is massive, their only challenge is luring some of the current customers who may be using the simulators at their own golf clubs in the winter. But these spots also can be popular for things like corporate events (which is usually not happening at your typical golf course simulator). Imagine you could go play 9 holes before or after going to a Wildcats game.
