Somebody needs to speak the the condo board of the building next door. The pinkish colour that they painted the concrete is awful.

Hello forum Been a long time lurker and finally decided to comment as I finally have some decently useful information.

Did a tour of a rental in this building the other day and I can confirm a grocery store is set to open on the main floor. The sales guy was dodgy about confirming which one it is but the elevator certificate said Farmboy on it so I'm assuming that's the one.

Yes I know I'm supporting Claridge and their sucky architecture but it's hard to beat this location and the amenities imo. The pool is truly laughable though.

Farmboy has some good unique stuff and nice ready to eat meals, but doens't offer a full shop. And it's up there in terms of $$$, so although it will be a nice addition, it won't offer all the benefits a full blown Loblaws or Metro or Sobeys would.

Totally agree! To me a FarmBoy in that location is actually not a good news. FarmBoy is closer to a specialty store than an metro/loblaws. What the west side of downtown really needs is a real grocery store with a full range of product. You're not gonna find your Mr. Noddles or Kelloggs Cereal at Farmboy

I largely agree as well, I never shop at Farmboy for groceries. Apparently there is quite a large space for whatever is going in there. Still better than nothing I suppose

Also looking forward to seeing what retail opens up next door in the Releve. Should have some good retail options in the west side of centretown in a couple years.

Farm Boy truly is the new Shoppers.

I agree with a lot of you, this isn't what we need. A full service store, urban format Metro or Sobeys, would have been far better. Better than nothing, sure, but still a huge disappointment. At this rate, each O-Train Station will be served by a Farm Boy.

Interesting. Seems to be some conflicting information about the grocery store between this Claridge site and the Main & Main site. I will sit on the sidelines until I can confirm.

Bah. It won't be a Farm Boy because there is already a store at Metcalfe and Lisgar. It will be one of the other big names. Personally I think a TNT would do really well in this location.

They opened one at the Rideau Centre even though we already had one at Metcalfe, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Yes. What a hit that was for the neighbourhood when they lost their paper products, beauty products, et al. Sobey's is overpriced, but nowhere near pharmacy overpriced.

As someone living in the immediate area, I’d love a Farmboy. I don’t need a store where I can get paper towel and laundry soap - I can Amazon that stuff. The area needs somewhere with good selection of produce and meat and Farmboy offers the best selection as far as grocery stores go.

Lots of new builds have parcel lockers - you buzz the driver into the lobby, he punches a few things in the machine, and you get a notification to pick it up with a numeric/QR code. Similar to the Canada Post lockers but without the keys.

Yes new buildings are built with Amazon delivery in mind. My older building has a 24/7 security and they store all packages in their office, other building they just leave the package in the lobby and you probably just pray all day it doesn't get stolen ahaha.

Yeah. That's the reality with a house too. Maybe half the delivery people bother knocking at the door. If you're there, great, if not, they just leave the package anyway. I'm surprised the delivery people go the extra mile to buzz the person's apartment.
