It's like seeing NYC through the eyes of a cataracts patient with the fuzzy orange haze thanks to the Canadian fires.

But health issues aside, the haze did look sweet on many of the pics.

Yes, but it’s still tall.

The most recent designs looked 1,350+ rather than 1,270.

Both at this point, would be great though...

I see no reason why 1 WTC has to be the tallest here. Why not build a mega tall at 2 WTC site?

The original plan called for a spiral effect so 2WTC needs to be shorter than tower 1 (which I guess means 1,776' is the limit )

A megatall here seems unrealistic. If that ever happens it'll probably be in midtown.

They should just build a twin to the first one, except without the spire. Go back to having twins dominate lower Manhattan. I know it's been said a million times, but it's still not too late to make that happen.

Actually, it is, for a variety of reasons.

I suggest you take a proper look how the twins stood and also aesthetically two 1WTC's don't work. 1WTC is designed specifically to be solo like 99% of all towers.

For the 30 odd minutes the original 1 World Trade stood alone on 9/11 and despite everything going on it just looked so odd and out of place.

I have suggested to make 7WTC the same height but the offset is the opposite of the originals so again wouldn't fully aesthetically work nor logically.

I suppose in hindsight you could have had two tall towers but each in a different design and done it that way. So twin towers but only in height.

Can't now, the foundation for this national embarrassment was completed 10 yrs ago, yes a decade ago when Larry & The Port Authority were still honeymooners.

The foundation is pretty much the footprint of Foster's original tower.

I totally agree. I see no reason why they can't build anything they want regardless of what foundation there is.

Building a twin at the location of the new 2WTCs foundation wouldn't look exactly look very good. Only way to come somewhat close to how original twins were arranged would be to locate it on the memorial, which is never going to happen.

Thanks. We know how it would look and would take that rather than anything else.

I believe there's a different thread for that conversation though.

it probably depends on what major client they eventually land, so it would have to wait for that.

foster took a crack at it last year, but i dk that was anything official.

afaik that was the latest look for it.

I like that design but it would be better if the top was uniformly flat.

There are actually two current designs, I found the post a few pages back.

I don't like the one on the right as much from this angle but it does look cool from some others (there are other pictures of that one, I'll try and dig them up)

if they combine the old facade of the south tower in this design and taper it it'd look amazing.

A tall box with minimal setbacks would fit in nicely.
