Also, does anyone know what is happening with the proposed building at 216 Sherbrook St?

Yeah I was just about to delete that email as it is just MERX wanting me to buy access to the private sector tenders. But then I saw 2000+ units and I had to look into it further!

Maybe it's just Winnipeg PTSD, but I am extremely skeptical about what phase 1 will yield.

The promise:

The reality?

Lol a bit of a stretch there. Maybe less rooftop greenery and less finesse on the finishings, but we're not getting a strip mall.

They have their broad standards outlined in their current lots page. The bidding for those closed on the 11th.

Two sites, with two buildings each, of the planned 14 multifamily residential are well underway in construction. I know one site is already doing leasing and I think the second is as well. Also Westport is the site of the "Headingly" Costco that predates the pandemic even though the site itself is within the boundaries of Winnipeg. If we go far enough back it was being planned as a site for Target and Lowes but obviously neither of those quite panned out as originally planned.

that southwood image is so out of touch with the reality of Winnipeg's development market.

the most hilarious part is that's only 1/3 of it....

it reminds me of central Oslo ...in suburban winnipeg.

Re; Southwood, the website says that they should be servicing land right about now, is that happening?

Yeah man once the mines are going again, albeit prob 5-10 yr out but still, you will make a mint on renting out to traveling and mine workers.

On another note, anyone know who is moving into the main floor of 200 Main (former Scotiabank Building)? Looks like there is a fair bit of work happening in there. I know there was some discussion about 200 Main a while back but I can't remember who ended up taking that space...
I believe Grant Thornton is also moving there from the tuxedo business park.

Hey, those buildings are my dream for South Main along the tracks from William Stephenson to the train station.

IIRC, we saw this one come through a while ago. The new 8 storey building at St. James and St. Matthews, and the suburban nature of the site layout. Well looks like it's being approved.
