Man, I'm always amazed at drone photography/video. It's really changed the game. Great work.

Thanks for the photo.

I don't know if I've said this before, but I like that the orientation is a bit off of the rest of the grid. One of the things I like about the Dallas skyline is that Downtown and Uptown are at different orientations (though that starts below Woodall Rogers, I guess). I like the effect it has on the skyline from a distance.

Does anyone else feel like this building is a fluke? The fact that we, a growing but still medium-sized city, are getting a supertall? Every time I drive past I feel like this is the culmination of a very intense but very short-lived period -- namely the pre-pandemic and pandemic years, from, say 2018 through 2021, where it seemed like anything that was proposed could get funding and get built. It really took the confluence of some very specific factors to produce something like this, IMO -- and honestly I can't say that I see the same conditions cropping back up any time soon.

Very nice facade, will provide some much-needed texture to our skyline.

Perhaps, but it seems that a lot of that could be said of a lot of areas/cities post-pandemic. Austin certainly saw an incredible amount of growth for more than a few years leading up to this, and there is still a lot of growth happening - just at a slower pace than it was before or during the pandemic. Still a lot by most standards, from what I can see. Whether that will result in another supertall in the near future, who knows.

I think Austin's skyline is punching above it's weight because of the totally whack zoning in the urban core. Zoning in downtown is very permissive (which is good) but much of the surrounding area has super restrictive zoning (which is bad). There are lots within a quarter mile of this supertall that have a 35 ft max allowable height.

If we allowed midrise apartments everywhere in the urban core (as we should) I doubt we would be building a supertall right now.

Unless an insider has the latest updated construction schedule, late 2026.
