Just be aware that is basically casting the same kind of aspersions.
In my experience, it's become less a case of people looking down on Hamilton and more that they just aren't as aware of it. Newcomers to the broader region don't have the historical context, and the Toronto metro is a lot bigger than it used to be, so places like Hamilton and Oshawa may be seen as relatively less important than they were.
There may always be those who cross the Skyway and see the north end as Mordor... that may remain the case even after the Stelco lands are redeveloped and Dofasco is no longer belching coal-fed clouds from its stacks. But I think more people are venturing out beyond Toronto and finding interesting places like those around our city. This is anecdotal, but I was in Goderich for the long weekend and there were a number of families and groups that I am positive were visiting from the GTA, and some could be overheard talking about it... Hamilton is a much closer day-trip and there is plenty to do for people who don't need flashy tourist-trap-type entertainment.
