Not pictured, but the washroom entrance has a bit of a Star Wars / R2D2 motif going on.

I thought there was a plan to add a third lane on that stretch?

Edit: from the City's Transportation Master Plan:

Ring Rd Widening (Albert St to McDonald St) Widening 3.20km
Ring Rd Widening (Ross Ave to Dewdney Ave) Widening 1.20km
Ross Ave & McDonald St Intersection (N/S left turns) Improvement
Ross Ave & Winnipeg St Intersection (lengthen lefts) Improvement

An engineering design tender went out for that last November. Might see construction next year.

Good timing with the new warehouse coming on stream next year (except for the construction phase). There are a lot of semi bays in that warehouse.

It appears that this is the new entrance to the Police Headquarters. I like the dragon's teeth. It is reminiscent of Russian defensive lines in Ukraine.

I finally got some info out of the city regarding the continuation of the crosstown bike lane project. I suggested they add a 4 way stop at 14th and Winnipeg if the lane was going that way, but they indicated it isn't.

It will go as far east as Lorne on 14th, then you will be required to detour 2 blocks south and cross College to the new MUP. They said it will follow College to Park Street, but I'm pretty sure it will shift to 17th Ave at Winnipeg as College gets very narrow after that and they'll have to eliminate on street parking entirely (like that's gonna happen). I've been going from Pasqua to Arcola on 14th ever since they built the first part of the bike lane so I'll keep going that way as it is quite nice aside from all the stop signs between Albert and Broad.

The College Ave multiuse pathway tender was also canceled today. Which was coincidentally a few days after I got a response from a councilor about safety concerns I raised about having high volumes of vehicles turning right at Broad and College across cycling traffic going straight. Anyone that does much walking knows the joy of a right turning driver blasting inches past you as you get a walk signal since drivers habitually blow red lights when turning right.

For pedestrian safety they should ban right on red turns. Or at the very least anywhere there is a roadside pathway.

Don't know, but one can imagine he was warned many times to stay on topic and not to personally attack other posters.

Does anyone know the status of how much work has been done with the first stretch of the 11th Avenue rehabilitation? Ground work or tearing up any sidewalks yet?

They struck me as the type of person who brooked no questioning of their opinions and when the moderators told them to cool their jets I could see them telling the mods to bugger off. Will they become a zombie like MIGS and come back again and again? Who knows?

There is a note on the tender.
Code:
This competition has been cancelled because: Negotiations discontinued.
It is unclear if that means negotiations with bidder, or if the city decided it was going to build on park property without informing them.

Anyone know where to find details of the MUP enchancements on Assiniboine? It's hard to tell exactly what they are doing. They've made the sidewalk double wide closer to Park but then are also paving the existing pathway on the north side. I'm not sure if they are planning on eliminating the shared lane or not.

I looked at that tender when it came out but didn't keep a copy of it. Basically widening the sidewalk over to the Pilot Butte Creek path, paving the gravel section between University Park and Windfield where there had been no sidewalk then widening the sidewalk from there over to the bridge.

If they wanted to make an MUP they should have done it on the south side by the cemetery where there are no intersections. What they are doing now is what you get when the city skips consulting the public, plans everything in secret then puts it out to bid.

A few pictures. They couldn't even be bothered moving a utility box.

Thanks for the pics. I drive or bike by this everyday and am glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's kind of ridiculously poorly thought out. What's the little section over the creek for, to accomodate a railing?

Saskatchewan to continue its research and readiness work on flax pellet production in preparation for the 2024 opening of its Regina facility.

I wonder where this is being built

Found a story with the location, it's on 1st Avenue between Winnipeg and McDonald. https://leaderpost.com/business/ener...biomass-market

Its a shame so much flax straw has to be burned every year. At least wheat straw can naturally break back down into the soil if they decided not to bale it.

The warehouse by the ring road has reached full length on the north side and the west end is being raised. https://imgur.com/a/pOF6vSP

There must be abut 70 bays on that thing! That will be a lot of new semi traffic for the area. Sears also had a lot of traffic, but the Ring Road is twice as busy as it was 15 years ago.
