From memory, I think the developer was Tankoos Yarman. The only reason I remember is because the name seemed so made up. And the site is still a parking lot, about 40+ years later. I wonder who owns it now.

I believe that you are correct. He was involved in a number of towers/proposals and last I recall had that proposal ~2007 on the corner of 124st/Jasper.

I believe this lot is now owned by the Allards.

Thus parking it shall be and low quality at that... alas. I'd love to see this generation be city builders too.

The Allards love their parking lots more than they love children and puppies.

Personally I want to see that lot on the SE corner of 101 St and 104 Ave transformed into a high-rise mixed-use hotel/residential with major restaurant/bar chains, an IMAX theatre and a pedway that connects to MNP, COE and Epcor. This tower will tie in nicely with the ICE District across the street.

If the Allards are still stuck in the 20th century with their parking lot then they need to sell that lot to OEG or whatever the Katz Group is called this year.

So Mercury Block II will be even larger than the first one, great to see. There will soon be many more residents in West Oliver - that area is fast becoming one of the best in the city.

Edmonton leads the way with quadrupled search interest

Edmonton has emerged as a top destination for Canadian homebuyers seeking cost-effective properties. Unique searches for homes in Edmonton have quadrupled since the pre-pandemic times, accounting for 2.0 per cent of total site searches between January and June, compared to 0.5 per cent during the same period in 2019.

Housing market and prices

As of the second quarter of 2023, the aggregate price of a home in Edmonton was $434,400, while in Calgary, it stood at $643,200. Nationally, the aggregate price of a home was $809,200 in the same quarter.

^ These numbers don't suggest to me that people are flocking into our city from all over the country.

I don't get how the real estate market in the city is always so depressed.
