Oh that's interesting. So this appears to be west of whatever that active earthwork currently going on to the immediate west of 192nd? Is that construction somehow part of the Palisades that is mostly to the east of 192nd?

It's hard to find much current detail on this whole area. Some old master plans, but current info almost seems like I need to know what to look for before looking for it. Clark county site isn't super helpful.

My parents are talking of looking to get a retirement place in these complexes. Not sure why, exactly, but to each their own (not that they are bad, but odd for a singular focus).

That is correct, HQ's property starts, just West of that one they paved for construction parking (and that is part of Palisades). The HQ project has stalled a bit as the City of Vancouver wants them to include more low income housing in the project. I haven't seen anything new from OTAK yet. There is a nice article in the Columbian today about the Palisades permit that just went in. A good site photo and a rendering of the office buildings. I don't have a great way to post photos or I would.

Interesting, I really can't find anything on that piece of land immediately to the west of 192nd, aside from original master plan info that is pretty dated now (2016). Clearly they are doing site work currently (roads, building site prep, something).

https://thepalisadeswa.com

Even the Columbian article from yesterday only shows the east of 192nd portion.

https://www.columbian.com/news/2023/aug/...lan-in-east-vancouver-adds-more-housing/

Complicated area overall, seems like lots of different things going on.

Same here, the last permit taken was for Storm Water in Feb 2022. The City council agendas for the last 6 months did not have this as a topic. Otak's site has nothing either. Hurley might be waiting out the city's request for low income housing, maybe waiting for funding from the VHA or simply waiting for an election.

Plans for the Heights District are moving along!

The design of three roadway projects that have been identified as key infrastructure to support the initial phase of development are being advanced to final design. The design will be finalized by summer 2024. These projects are improvements to the Mill Plain/MacArthur Blvd intersection, north and east sections of the Grand Loop (new street network) and a roundabout at MacArthur Blvd/Lieser Road intersection.

The Mill Plain Blvd/MacArthur Blvd intersection will be the first road improvement to begin construction in Fall 2024. Construction of the north Grand Loop Road and MacArthur Boulevard/Lieser Road intersection are projected to take place over the course of 2025/2026, subject to securing funding.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Development
The City’s equitable development strategy will be finalized by the end of the summer, providing recommendations to minimize the negative impacts the redevelopment can have on existing businesses and lower-income residents, while also maximizing benefits for the entire community.

In 2024, we plan to issue requests for proposals (RFPs) from developers for the development of City-owned parcels of land on Mill Plain Boulevard.

About the Heights District
The Heights District is a 205-acre area located between East Mill Plain Boulevard to the north, MacArthur Boulevard to the south and west, and Andresen Road to the east. It includes several City-owned properties including the former Tower Mall shopping center, a water facility, fire station and Park Hill Cemetery, plus three public schools and commercial and residential areas. The Heights District Master Plan was approved by City Council in 2020 after a rigorous multiyear planning effort. This new district will be a vibrant, walkable, mixed-use neighborhood that is strategically located in the heart of Vancouver — a place where a mix of services and amenities such as stores, restaurants, parks, schools, mixed-income housing and transit stations, are within a 20-minute walk.

Yeah, this site isn't going to ever compete with dashboards. It's a discussion forum so pretty much taking info provided by the city/county and then discussing here. I would like to see PortlandMaps build a dashboard like this. Beaverton too if they don't have one already.

The only issue I have with these, and it's an important one, is that we need activity dates. It's the only way that I can tell if they are active or not. It would save me a lot of research time.

Who runs that site? Is it an official Vancouver site?

Burgeoning Waterfront Redefines Vancouver, Washington

Ambitious development is taking Washington State’s most overlooked city from ‘Vantucky’ backwater to hip.

A few years ago an Urbanist reader approached me at a meetup and offered a story tip. Sleepy Vancouver, Washington on the Columbia River across the stateline from Portland, Oregon, was beginning to wake up.

“You have to check out the waterfront,” he said, explaining that he was certain it was one of the largest and most ambitious urban development projects underway in the Pacific Northwest. I made a mental note about it at the time and put a visit to Vancouver at the top of my project list.

Then the Covid-19 pandemic happened, and my first visit to the ‘Couve’, as I would learn Vancouver is sometimes affectionately called, was set back by a couple years. The long pause may not have been a bad thing, however, as the ensuing months would significantly advance Waterfront Vancouver and other development going on in the city.

By the time I was able to first visit Vancouver in September 2023, only four out of 22 city blocks in the 32-acre project site area remained to be developed. The result was a modern neighborhood of glass and steel towers set on a picturesque seven-acre Waterfront Park on the Columbia River that totally eclipsed the site’s past as a paper mill.

Six-acre, 400-housing unit project could transform Vancouver's downtown and waterfront
The city is currently accepting feedback on the design of what will become a "Gateway" connecting the central business district to the waterfront.

A vacant 6.4-acre lot in downtown Vancouver could soon host housing, office space, retail, restaurants and public plazas.

The project, christened the Waterfront Gateway district, lies between the historic downtown core and the newly vibrant stretch along the Columbia River waterfront west of the Interstate Bridge. The site, one of the Vancouver region's largest undeveloped properties, is adjacent to city hall and the Vancouver Convention Center. While no price tag has been released, the full build-out is expected to cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

The city is accepting feedback on the design of what'll become a central plaza until the end of February. From there, designs could be finalized and permits could be in place by the end of the year. Groundbreaking is set for spring 2025, with completion in 2027.

In Vancouver, locals go mad for waterfront's first luxury residential tower (Photos)

Vancouver homebuyers are embracing a new way of living in a 12-story building that sits along the Columbia River.

The Kirkland Tower, in the heart of Vancouver’s thriving and still-growing waterfront development west of the Interstate-5 bridge, holds 40 luxury condominiums and stands side-by-side with the new Hotel Indigo, which opened in fall 2022. The $200 million project included a collaboration that allows condo owners to take advantage of many of the same amenities — valet, housekeeping, concierge, room service — as hotel guests.

Currently 33 or the 40 units have been sold, according to Rebecca Lee, Kirkland Tower’s director of sales.
