I don't think material admitted to city council will be taken to the OMB, but I could be wrong. I see Joey Coleman on this thread. He would know.

I honestly don't know how the OMB works.

One of the reviewers does an absolutely perfect job of summarizing the NIMBY mindset in Durand.
He complains that these buildings don't fit the neighbourhood due to 3 storey homes across the street.

So let's get this straight.... in a SEA of high-rise buildings, this guy defines 'the neighbourhood' according to the ONE block of single homes.
And for those watching at home, yes those single family homes were built by DEMOLISHING a huge heritage mansion.
Here is the crux of the Durand gated-community NIMBY mindset. They frame their disdain for highrises under the guise of being upset about the huge mansions that were lost in order to build said highrises.
Yet, suddenly when a huge mansion is demolished to build homes, those homes are absolutely fine and in fact, representative of the built-form in the neighbourhood.

Absolute baloney. They are elitists who only want residents moving to Durand if they can afford a ground level detached or semi-detached homes. The few people running the DNA can't imagine living in a high-rise apartment or condo, and thus try to impose their own narrow views on an entire neighbourhood.
The hypocrisy is astounding.
I agree- but it goes even further, I was called an elitist myself for supporting Television City by a DNA member. They are spin doctors of NIMBYism under the guise of "Heritage" and "Affordability"

The president of the Durand Neighborhood Association accused me of working for Brad Lamb because I vocally support this project.

The OMB receives all letters sent to Council on a file. Writing or delegating to Council gives you the right to request participant status at the OMB - allowing you to make a statement to the Board.

The Board is to weight the statements and testimony of expert witnesses much more than non-experts. It is to look at the planning regiment and make its decision.

There's also the big unknown of what happens when the OMB is replaced.

Well, recently it's been either the planning department, or Council against the advice of the planning department, who have approved projects (Tivoli, Connolly) that likely would have been rejected at the Board. So I'd say a delegation to Planning or Council is going to get you a lot further than participating in an OMB hearing which is maybe the most hopeless form of civic action ever devised.

Haven't seen Councillor Farr post any public thoughts or replies on this project. Until now....

He RT'd this.

We'll need as many letters and delegates as possible before council to counter the DNA.

I've been saying that from the beginning.
How can he use celebrity names without their permission?

I said it about Carol Burnett several months ago: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...7&postcount=94

Yea, I wondered if they got permission to use their names back in May:

He's a complete idiot if he didn't actually get their permission. Isn't that basic knowledge even for someone not in the business world?

Yeah this names thing seems pretty amateurish. I'm not sure if I would consider the fact my condo design is called a Bob Barker a good thing.

The names sound tacky as hell. I get that it fits with the whole "television city" theme but it seems absurd to me.

Better get your pets spayed or neutered before moving in!

Shatner says he will drop the lawsuit if Lamb donates to his charity.

Needless to say, Brad Lamb is an idiot for not thinking this through. Not to mention these towers are generic and uninspiring.

Generic and uninspiring but arguably the nicest new build in Hamilton in years.
