My building (nearby) got an update on road closures that likely gives a good indication about the Waterline's progress and timeline. In short:
  1. Early/Mid February -- a roundabout is going in at the intersection of Red River / Davis St.
  2. End of February -- Repaving Red River
  3. Supposedly in April -- All road/infrastructure work is finished

There's probably interior finishing that will take longer, but seemingly it shouldn't be too long before this is ready to open

Nope. Not a rectangle. Anyway, I need to get my lazy butt up to Austin and photograph the Waterline. I think it's kinda cool looking, myself.

I know this is the Waterline thread my apologies but 609 Main has similarities to The Republic in a good way. Both are great. Also that Texas Tower is a solid add as well.

I still think it looks like an oversized stitched block of student housing. The glass also doesn't do much for this with the white accents. It's so dark compared to other elements, it just seems harsh and won't age well.

I appreciate the white accents. Just wish the lower and upper half facade were a bit more identical with each other, but I understand the balconies get in the way of that I guess. Much better than have yet another all blue glass building. Stands out more.

^^ Fully agree. The white accents help it stand out more in the skyline

That would be nice. But so far tower #2 was only a vision in a ~2019 design competition.

I see tagging already. I would love the city to step up on squashing this and arresting these people. It has gotten worse in the last 5 years in Austin. The new Buffalo Bills stadium was vandalised and they have haulted construction. Offered $100k to catch the perpetrators.

Yes indeed, that's 6xG on the right.

Here's another shot I took from Elgin last month at about 23 miles away

I hadn't heard of that, so I looked into it more:

"Investigators have identified a group of seven construction workers at the center of the probe. Within that group, at least three have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the vandalism. Two of them have been singled out as the 'primary suspects' responsible for the graffiti. The suspects are union trade workers employed on the stadium project. Officials have emphasized that their actions do not reflect the conduct of the other ~8,000 workers on the site. The Erie County Sheriff's Office is leading the active investigation and has not yet filed formal charges."
