But they're involved (at least in part) becaue it makes good business sense for them from a personal brand standpoint. On the most elementary level, JM hasn't been able to crack the downtown market (most of her success is west-end), an area that isn't "owned" by a particular broker or agency at present. Once a turnaround takes hold in earnest, properties and projects would seem likely to shift toward a proven performer wo knows the local niche, and the payday would be healthy. And maybe she just likes a challenge. LD I think cares but also sees the value in being in the mix, having his name attached to infrastructure projects and being seen as a facilitator for a healthy city, growth in a contracting market, and progressive urban thinking. He may only get one more kick at higher office, and even if that doesn't play out as he'd like, this direction could be a shrewd Plan B.

But mainly this is a transparent ruse by two liberal politicians in civilian garb to grab back Hamilton Centre for the Grits and exact proxy revenge for Stan Keyes. Watch the revised blueprints for a 24 hr think tank.

The Shell gas station is really old too, probably 50 or 60 years old. I saw one picture of the gas station that had that 50's retro gas station look.

A bit off topic, but theres an ex-Shell gas station on Cannon at Victoria that looks like that as well. I remember the one on John looking like that.

Here is a dictionary definition of contrarian:
: a person who takes a contrary position or attitude ; specifically : an investor who buys shares of stock when most others are selling and sells when others are buying

WOW, this is actually a compliment! Apparently I am a wise investor who buys when the markets are low and sells when they are high/in demand... Thanks!!

Now can we please get back on topic?

Yeah that's it, I'm calling you a stock trader. I'm definitely not referring to the non-bolded definition and decided to highlight your day job at the TSX.

I guess he's buying the Proctor el-Weirdo Dance Dance Revolution building that's for sale and sticking it there.

I think it was just realcity having some fun and getting ahead of himself.

There is no way in heck that anybody should have taken the first 100-story thing seriously.

It's got some nice curves though, it beats Marilyn Monroe's curves.

Harry Stinson's desire to find a development that will work for the city is admired by many of us. He doesn't simply give up at the first sign of opposition. I share the same mindset in many areas of my life as well. And in the end, only one of his proposals has to be built for him to be successful. He's adapting and in the end will come out with something far superior to his original proposal.
