No, he said the same thing on Twitter a while back, implying that construction wouldn't even start until 2027. He's not a stupid person and he seems very detail-oriented, so I can only assume he's being deliberately deceitful for political reasons.

This seems like the most likely -- the first Tweet in the thread also seems to be attempting to trick people into thinking the beautiful old heritage building is being torn down for the development. Why not post a picture of the ugly box that is actually being demolished?

I mean, if you are able to read more than 1 tweet at a time, you'd see his point is about how the Connolly building has been left without proper supports and has been left to deteriorate. My guess is that by the time the Connolly starts the facade won't be able to be maintained. There is a similar fear with other heritage buildings where developers have said they will respect and protect heritage structures as a compromise, but pull the rug from under the community.

Cities are not a single person, single developer or even a single councillor. They are a collection of people and needs. Developers telling a community one thing while doing another betrays that trust in a big way because these developments are a large shift and change compared to the past, often times for the better, but a massive change nonetheless.

But I think the point that we're making is that Kroetsch is being dishonest in his tweeting. This project will be complete in 2027, not just starting construction. I'm not sure if his tweet is using carefully selected wording "won't be built until 2027" to keep it vague? That tweet was also around election time, and in that very tweet he unfairly takes a swipe at the former councillor.

This project is way different from The Conolly. Lamb is ready to start construction any day now, and the only thing that is stopping him is city permits and councillors like Kroetsch who want to hold the project up over a few dead and ugly trees.
