As for signs, just a tip: if it is a city indication sign, the "west/north/east/south" are part of the city name always. So "West Kelowna" means the city of West Kelowna not west to Kelowna. Directions are typically only given on highway indicators. So like HWY1 East or HWY 5 North. Within cities, typically direction is simply done with an arrow. < or > for example. Like a sign that will say < New Westminster ^ Surrey on it. They would never say North/South etc. This is specifically done that way NOT to be confusing so if you are still confused, I suggest going on the ICBC website and pulling up the
signs literature for BC. Knowing how to read signs while driving is
kind of important.
