The Kalamazoo City Commission approved TIF for the Northside neighborhood. The plan would also help fund an African American Museum in Kalamazoo.
Kalamazoo City Commission approves tax capture plan for Northside
Quote:
Projects on a list of things the TIF proceeds could fund include an African American museum, a boxing and fitness center, streetscaping, and more, totaling an estimated $34 million.
The proposed boundaries of the Corridor Improvement Authority are roughly Westnedge to the west, Frank Street to the north, the Kalamazoo River to the east, and Willard to the south, plus the rights-of-way of Westnedge and Burdick Streets between Prouty and Frank Street. The boundary roughly follows that of the previously established Northside Cultural Business District, with the addition of the lots between North and Frank Streets.
