Older 12-storey concrete high rise, 1255 Pendrell. Fourth floor unit burned out; one resident has died, one is in hospital being treated for smoke inhalation.

is that the final finish on those townhouses? if so, disgusting. if not, i hope it turns out nice. that mansion is beautiful and i hope their renovation doesn't damages its character.

shame the whole mansion couldn't have kept its property. it had a nice greenhouse and stables i remember seeing in a photo awhile back.

I think this is the building, from Google street view.

When my husband complains about the sprinklers we have in our building, I show him this. I tell him the sprinklers save lives.

We've had flood damage 7 times in the last 15 years, most of the time from sprinklers getting set off accidentally.

It was a pizza place called Incendio, and it's been closed since 2016, (which is when they started work on this building). The owners also owned BierCraft on Commercial Drive, now recently reopened as a pizza place. There are still bars open on Cambie, at UBC and at SFU. They also opened Bomber brewing, in the DTES.

Here's something those with a legal mindset might enjoy.

The owner (Abbcar Properties) of a unit in the strata at 499 Broughton St sued the city over the approval of the new Coal Harbour Elementary School.

TLDR - It didn't go well for them, and they were ordered to pay the city's costs too.

I was getting the feeling that the Rec Room project had come to a halt. It seems like no progress has been made for a long time. I hope it's still moving, although a sloth moves faster at this stage.

The sooner it gets done the better. The last thing that fast declining strip needs is vacant buildings.

Yeah, I was stunned by the lack of progress on the Rec Room when I went by last weekend too.

Granville Street really seems to look more and more abandoned as the pandemic stretches out. Hopefully the planned rejuvenation that the Bonnis family want to do gets a green light, and that will bring more of both offices and entertainment options to that end of the street.
