Both YEG-YOW flights next summer are still showing as E90.

Ya I just picked July 21st (randomly) to see the new schedules, and it came up x2 319s and 1 E90. Last year I was showing a similar Sunday at x3 319s

Has there been anything about Hong Kong Airlines starting up YYC? They are also owned by the HNA Group (Hainan), and someone mentioned Hainan leaving? This just came up, and it could just be that Regina and Saskatoon don't have year-round service from YVR, so they are codesharing from YYC for a connection from YVR, but what about YYC-YWG? I wonder if this is a sign they are bringing HX service?

Hong Kong Airlines in late-November 2018 expanded codeshare partnership with WestJet, covering additional domestic Canada service. Planned new codeshare routes include the following.

Hong Kong Airlines operated by WestJet
Calgary – Regina
Calgary – Saskatoon
Calgary – Winnipeg
Vancouver – Kelowna
Vancouver – Prince George
Vancouver – Regina
Vancouver – Saskatoon

If I had to guess at what Acey is getting at (and I am I suppose

) he's saying the first routes are likely to be from where the aircraft and crew are based rather than between two out stations.

So something ex-YYR, YYZ, YUL or YWG.

I would take HKA to HKG over Hainan to Beijing. Hong Kong is a better travel destination and transfers are easier at HKIA than Beijing airport?

It's too bad they cut QLD service - would have been awesome to fly YYC-CNS/OOL one stop through HKG

Dreamliners will be fun YYC-YYZ - especially up front

Any news on the rumored WS Lounge in A Concourse? I have heard mixed rumblings but have been out of the loop with YYC things of late

WS serves both YQR and YXE year round from YVR. I suspect it might have something to do with the timing of the HX arrival in YVR (8:30am) and YVR-YXE/YQR departures (both at 7:00pm). Going through both YVR and YYC would likely get you to Saskatchewan sooner than sitting around YVR all day.

On a similar topic, I wonder why encore doesn’t operate YVR-YXE/YQR. Jazz does (or did, not sure if they still do) fly the route with a Q400. That would allow them multiple daily flights, especially good for connnecting in from Hawaii in the morning.

Hong Kong Airlines is on record about wanting to start YYZ. Not YYC.

Sorry I should have said daily non-stop. In winter, neither YQR or YXE is daily. And yes Encore would make sense for those routes. I think Jazz uses CR-900s on those routes, but same capacity basically yes.

I know HX wants Toronto, but aren't they free to launch that route at anytime? I think Canada-Hong Kong bilaterals are totally different, so there's nothing stopping them from starting that route now?

I just thought with all of those YYC codeshares it might be saying something. But CloudInspector is probably right, and it has to do with departure times ex-YVR, and connecting thru WS makes more sense.

I would expect one of the first routes to be Toronto to Saskatoon and Regina. Key reason is the A320 is to much aircraft and it was one of the very first route that the CRJ 705 operated. However the CRJ 900 is a bit to small. Perfect fit for the c series while being close to Toronto .

I'm seeing 2x daily to ORD on E175s and DFW going 2x daily with PM flight mainline on a 737-800?

Correct.

The second ORD flight was announced some time ago but the upgauge of the afternoon flight to DFW is new. Good recovery of capacity on DFW. AA needs its own metal after the breakup with WS.

Fascinating. It did seem odd that neither AM or WS could make is work. Seasonal (only 3 months) may lead to year round again if successful this time and 4 x per week may be a good match for the demand. In any event good to add a foreign carrier if Hainan is going.

Looks like WS1 (LGW) switches from 789 service to 767-600 on October 27th. 4-5x weekly?

CDG and DUB also look seasonal. They are falling off end of October (this was listed on WS website but I've seen it announced as year round). Makes me wonder if they move to YYZ in winter.

Price of oil going down again is probably the main reason why AM is returning for the peak travel season.

A 767-600 huh?

I don’t recall ever seeing CDG or DUB announced as year-round. Where did you read that? Can you post a source. Perhaps a third party source but not WestJet.
