Regardless of Hamilton service getting electrified the electrification of the Go network up to Burlington station will likely see 30 minute service brought to West Harbour station (currently hourly) and will see the speed from West Harbour to Union at least during certain parts of the day be reduced to 55-75 minutes. Compared to the current 80-85 minutes.

I might be seeing things but when driving by earlier today it sure looked like the cladding on the second story of the garage was black as opposed to the bronze/gold below?

It was mentioned above, but they are definitely black. I took a pic today I'll upload. It shows the internal structure which I thought was cool.

One issue I see is that you can see the backing plates through the cladding, but otherwise it looks great

The old skyline is going to be buried in no time at this rate.

for the best.
Besides the art deco/gothic Pigott building, not much beauty in DT Hamilton for highrises
This McMaster residence is coming along better than I expected.

A reminder that this is expected to be open in September. It’s going to be absolutely flying through these last stages of construction, and we should see the benefit of the extra 600 students downtown this fall.

That will be an insane amount of external and internal construction in 5 months to have students move into the place in September

this is what McMasters last opened res looks like inside and it clearly doesn't have a ton of detail. Bay street one could be quicker than we might think assuming similar simplicity

This was an undergrad Res though. The downtown will have be a grad student res and probably a bit higher quality interior finishes.

I would imagine that students have already signed leases, so I don't think the contractors working on it have any choice but to finish by September. They've likely agreed to a completion date. That's why we see workers here on the weekends. They're clearly working around the clock to hit that deadline.

I suspect they will complete bottom floors first like in most condo projects, and so they will start leasing from bottom to top, until they believe they will finish. I imagine the finishing touches will be done past September. Like with my condo in Burlington, I got the keys but amenities and other items weren't done until well after receiving keys. The first students in this residence will likely either get a reduced rate as a result of fewer amenities, or will just get the worst experience of any future student renter.

The way student residences work they all need to be able to move into the building in early September or the developer is SOL - I fully expect they will push for basic occupancy by September with a lot of finishing touches happening afterwards, but the entire building will need to be ready by then.

As others have said this will likely be built to a lower construction finish for interiors than a condo would which may allow it to move a bit quicker. We’ll have to see, it’s definitely absolutely flown up so far.
