Doesn't that land belong to the Beth Jacob Synagogue which they developed into condos? I believe it used to be a school yard for a Catholic school (St. Leo's?) before.
Heh! ... Mom and Dad sold their house backing that site just before the condos went up! The popular concern at the time when it was proposed was that there would be less privacy for the residences (esp. in their back yards at such close proximity) backing the low-rise condo project. They did let concerned residences have their voice, though, requiring their presence to be officially counted as opposition in a room at City Hall on a weekday, at 4:00 pm! Nice strategy! ...

Dad did send a friend to represent them that day, but I know many others who would be affected were NOT able to make it!
Isn't this also the case for the Mormon Temple in Wascana View, and the large tract of land beside it to the west, sitting empty behind the brick wall at Wascana Circle and Prince of Wales Dr. for all these years? If they do own it, they could potentially develop it. Or is there some zoning bylaws restricting construction, or does it belong to the city?
