Speaking of Dilawri, I looked up their group and it is massive. 49 car dealerships across Canada from the west coast to Toronto.....and they are looking east of Toronto. Pretty impressive for 3 brothers that started in Regina with a single Honda dealership 30 yrs ago.

Any use which involves keeping the building standing is basically dead in the water already.

The best use for the building would be the City of Regina or a crown. And since SaskPower has already bought land and secured swing space for their downtown renovation.

You can pretty much assume that the wrecking ball (more likely implosion) is the only answer. Unless Heritage and Planning enforce turning the whole thing into a pigeon coop a la the Traveller's Building.

The Sears warehouse Tower is a perfectly good structure I see no reason for its demise ,the owner has something in mind ,so lets not BrutallyDishonest be the one pressing the trigger to implode it , then thirty years from now we wont be saying why did we let another heritage 100 year old Chicago style ware house go to the wrecking ball shame shame

As the year ends I marvel at all projects Regina has achieved over the last eight years eight towers , two billion dollar by pass , massive new stadium -- the redevelopment of the rail lands , the city has transformed its self ,and once the rail lands start look out

All they are doing is carving up streets and drainage systems. There is some definition in the northeast section.

Serious question: what do you propose be done with it? Because I'm guessing what you really want is the government to pour $40-80M rehabilitating a building that will never work property.

I don't want it knocked down, but I'm also a realist.

I believe 4th Towers post stated the number of towers that had been or are being constructed, and yes this is a government town, doesn't change the fact those buildings were built.

And my point is that office space doesn't get built here without commitment from the provincial govt to lease a considerable portion of said space. If that isn't a subsidy, then I don't know what is.

I dealt with govt facilities mgmt and construction for the last 10 years.
