Perhaps that site next to Superstore, now that it has been rezoned. Except the DC2 is specific to that Dubai-esque green giant.

Well...obviously West Edmonton caters to WEM tourists. Dunno about Gateway and on Ellerslie.

really? Let me quickly explain. As mentioned some times now, Edmonton (and particularly South/East Edmonton/Leduc/Nisku) is the home of the vast majority of Oilfield services and Fabrication yards which service both conventional upstream Exploration & Production industries, as well as building components/modules for new Oil Sands expansions.

Typically, when you work in a O&G companies HQ in Calgary, it's typically expected that in a Projects or Drilling/Completions role, you will be spending a significant amount of time (weekly in some cases) going to the outskirts of Edmonton to interface with said service companies or inspect your equipment. So most folks either drive or fly to Edmonton and stay the night in a hotel in and around their work areas. This is the primary reason for the hotels along Gateway.

^ How many units are being subsidized? Does anyone know how many units need to be bought (percentage of total) before a developer starts construction? Or does this really depend on the specific developer and their choice.

All depends on how they are financing it. Usually to protect the core corporation from collaspe, each project is its own corporation. The the number of units to be sold needs to be equal to whatever the lendors requirements are for construction financing to kick in (even if this is the parents company).

Poorly structured development companies that try to self finance, or pay as you go tend to go belly up in slumps, a couple down in Calgary did.

They took the sign down above the door fronting jasper. Not sure why.

Also, they installed all the outdoor lights on friday. Simple chrome up down lights that are cylindrical. Look hawt.

Someone on C2E (not exactly a reliable source) is claiming that there is a plan to replace the City Centre East food court with an underground pedway between Churchill LRT station and the new arena, with the food court opening at the arena. Someone please tell me this is utter bullshit?

Thats got to be BS, thats a hell of a hike underground. West Food court is closer but I don't see them tunneling for that either.

There is currently a tunnel that goes from West Food Court to Allstream. All you would need to do is tunnel from Allstream and go under Bell and Staples.

RE: Jaffer - Previous incarnation I much prefer, it just needed some love. That said, I am happy to see people wanting to reinvest on Jasper and add some new life with a 7-11 and Scotch bar.

But why the hell would you spend that kind of dough when you (Aspen) can add a small pedway from BELL to the arena entertainment area and you are connected.

If anything and if I were Oxford, I would work on strengthening the DELTA to 104ave routing on 102st.1 block outside or 3 or 4 inside the mouse maze?

Why on earth would Rexall allow climate controlled access to a building with services and a hotels they don't control? That doesn't make any sense.
