I know, I was just adding to it - It's possible to reason without being unreasonable. Sorry, I just realize that it sounded like I was saying you were being unreasonable, but that's not at all what I meant. I was just summing up what we had discused into a one-liner
So, to steer slightly from irrelevent politics back to urban development politics, I was reading today on Yahoo Finance that the stimulus bill likely to pass may add $25 billion more for infrastructure. It's looking like they will probably shave off $88 billion from the original bill - money that would have gone to college aid and assistance to "troubled state budgets". It is important to note that the points the Republicans were/are pointing to as "wastefull spending" is only a very very very small fraction of the entire bill - less than 1% of the total $800-900 billion bill. As the Yahoo Finance report put it, "Republicans have maneuvered in the past several days to identify and ridicule relatively small items in the bill." I do agree with the Republicans that these items are unnecessary and "wastefull", but that doesn't mean the rest of the bill is - more than 99% of the bill is still directly targeted at job creation and "stimulus" spending. Let's not refuse to vote for an entire bill because we disapprove of 1% of it!! I will hold the Republicans completely responsible if Utah doesn't get it's $1+ billion stimulus money!
