WTF happened to the Winnipeg Goldeyes logo?

I always thought Winnipeg's Ballpark looked great, but I wonder if it would have been even more impressive if the outfield looked towards the downtown skyline instead of looking away from it?

The only people getting this great view of the Winnipeg skyline seen here are the outfielders. Still, I think it's one of the nicer ballparks in Canada.

I remember the Goldeyes being pretty well supported growing up in Winnipeg and excitement for when CanWest Global Park was being built. I also remember really liking the logo and the ball caps being popular at school.

Was shocked to see this is now their logo:

Baseball team rebrands to look like…a fish producer

Always blows my mind when sports teams go from a great logo to something absolutely terrible, but this really does look like a frozen fish brand or seafood chain restaurant. Hope this logo doesn't last long.

A field that faces west is a bad idea. Particularly in the summer with long and late sunsets, the batter's eyes would always be battling the sun. A baseball field either has to face north or east. An east-facing field is no big deal since games are never played in the morning. But since most games are in the afternoon or evening, you can't have it facing west.

That's horrific.
