Kelowna managed to escape most of the architectural mis-adventure 1990-2020 as well. It was arguably the most wretched era for high-rise construction. Vancouver/Toronto weren't so lucky although the current slate U/C and proposed are MUCH better.

Btw, what happened to that gold coloured 46 floor UBCO proposal? Is it still in the works?

It's under construction. It had a slight delay due to some foundational cracks in several buildings bordering the construction site.

But Mount Royal's advantage is accessibility. It's perfectly integrated with the surrounding city. Then you also have dense woods where you can escape the summer heat and find some peace and quiet. And there's also steep topography that allows for light hiking. I can't think of another downtown park that offers that kind of variety.
Washington Park in Portland Oregon always reminds me of Mount Royal - being a forested hill adjacent to downtown with switchback roads and various attractions.

All these parks (Stanley, Tor Islands, MR & Washington) are phenominal assets for their cities.

Was in K-W for the first time in years. Absolutely shocked and impressed by the amount of development. Condo and office towers lining a fully functional LRT.
