I've never been inside the Windsor Hotel, but heard quite a lot of stories about it.

Sad state of affairs to see yet another building burn down in this city.

There are other footage in various other social media that the Windsor did indeed collapsed on its own, damaging some vehicles parked alongside the building, before they were towed out once it was safe to do so, and to make way for Imrie to demolish the rest of the building.

On a side note, more MPI claims stacking up as the workers continue to strike.

I saw workers pouring concrete for the 7th floor (top floor) at 380 Young St yesterday. It looks like that project is coming along nicely.

The MPI strike is also having an impact on their downsizing renovations at City Place.

Their premises dept is all union staff so work on getting off their last floor for the new tenant by end of OCT is apparently being delayed

I noticed that more work seems to be happening on the old Winnipeg Hotel. Most of the paint has been scraped off the front, revealing red brick. Anyone have any updates on this project? Seems like it's just in the nick of time, given the fate of the Windsor.

Feds Dept of Agriculture currently in East Exchange are moving there. From I hear, employees are not happy leaving exchange. Another Fed dept was suppose to move into MPI building, but that backed out but they already signed lease so AG dept are moving in

The IT floor is the last floor to move in the downsizing. MPI has gone from almost 5 floors down to 2 floors. It was suppose to be reduced to 3 floors but COVID introducing work from home allowed MPI to shrink by 1 more floor.

They also shrunk the cubicles down to small shared work spaces (hoteling style) so there is very little privacy between staff when they are in the building. Managers/divisional directors still have offices but smaller than what before the renovations.

To be fully fair, at its peak MPI had a large cafeteria on one of the floors which always felt somewhat odd with the food court on the second floor. There was also a fairly large server room, yet most servers have shrunk significantly in size over time. There was also a separate staging area for PC repairs. IT operations also had a fairly sizable in-house training environment setup. The customer service was also moved to the public first floor when MPI went to the more secure office setup that lots of organizations run now.

The part I find a little surprising is even back when I briefly worked there almost the entire workforce was in cubicles that offered minimal privacy. So when you call out that there is a reduction in privacy in the new work configuration is very telling.

MMF bought 200 Main to use as office and add a child care centre. 200 Main is the current Wawaneesa, formally Asiniboine Credit Union / Sport Manitoba building.

Also 165 Fort St which is parking lot behind it

That is good news for such an odd, likely hard to repurpose office building.

I wonder if they are going to vacate their Henry location. They just spent a pile on upgrading it but I know they hate the location and its surroundings.
