I don't see how this is supposedly going to bring a lot of business. Events bring surge traffic rather than constant flow. It will be an empty dead zone much of the year when nothing is scheduled. Restaurants have a maximum seating size and cooking throughput, there's only so much extra business they could get before and after a game /event before they hit capacity. Add in security and safety concerns after Asian Americans had been targets of violence for the past several years (and more) and the thought of thousands of drunk patrons from concerts or games let out at once onto the neighborhood causing havoc. Most people don't expect Philadelphians to behave and that's the worst case scenario many are thinking about.
