Vancouver to Golden is also 700km

Vancouver to Calgary is about 1000km.
Vancouver to Edmonton is about 1,150 km.
Having a daily to them would make sense.
Having 2 trains a day would make sense.

I get the feeling you love your jacked up diesel truck.
I get the feeling you've never heard of a plane. Air Canada offers $141 for a round trip to Edmonton; VIA starts at $210. If it's that expensive to run a train over the mountains every week, you can forget about service twice a day.

Then you didn't click the link. Duncan is surrounded by ALR. Victoria is hemmed in by the Pacific. North Van is hemmed in by the Pacific and the DNV. All three have literally nowhere left to sprawl.
