We just had an offer accepted on a house in the far northern suburbs. While it's way farther north than we'd prefer to be, and certainly less urban, it was brutal to see just how many areas where we simply can't afford to live now. Pending a good inspection, etc., we should have the keys within a few weeks. Our process was relatively quick compared to the vast majority of folks we know who are looking.

They can't build enough homes quickly enough to keep up with the demand - both urban and suburban alike. Supply chains are certainly affecting builds as well, among other things.
