This isn't true. A diesel truck can be idled at high idle, 1400RPM, for days without running out of fuel. Just think about it, you're saying a truck will use as much fuel at idle as if it was driving at 50km/h.
An idling semi uses less than a gallon of diesel an hour, call it 4L or 0.13L in 2 minutes. Since a semi might do 50L/100km, that's actually 260m.
