I heard a few people unsure/struggling with pronunciation this weekend. I heard "AVV-nurr" and even "uh-VEE-nurr" a few times.
If anyone is still unsure, the "avenue" trick is helpful, you swap the "nue" with the word "near".
In a year, everyone will be used to it and it'll seem so strange that people ever struggled with it.
