This is MUCH MUCH better than I was anticipating.
I am thrilled about the use of terra cotta! Its a great material, and I'm glad its seeing some use again in modern building designs.
The setbacks feel organic, and seem like they belong in the design more than the setbacks at OCS. The crowns are a bit too much, but over all this is PoMo done well.
Starting construction of both towers at once ensures that we don't just end up with the shorter, stubby tower then some other redesign for the south tower.
The base... eh. Not a fan, but then again, its abutting a highway and its only road access is the narrow and dead end North Water St, which is unlikely to ever really be used a lot by pedestrians, even after whatever is constructed at DuSable Park. Hopefully the city can milk money from Related to help with the site cleanup and build out of the park as well.
Summer 2019? The hell are they waiting for?
Thank you Related, for not shitting in our collective cereal bowl.
