The 2 leftmost pieces of equipment drill down through soil and rocks. Then they blast with explosives, using the black rubber mat to cover the blast holes (towards the right, with the spare bucket resting on it).
Then the excavators come along and collect the smaller, looser pieces of ground.
I'm not sure, but I think the little orange drill riding on tracks is just used for drilling the wall anchors (instead of the wall just holding on to the interfacing ground the iron rods grip against several feet of more stable rock/dirt)
