Cheaper to build, but more expensive to operate. Inlet station will have 8 escalators (up and down), a typical lightly used station could get by with 2. Because of side platforms and two entrances and up/down they need 8.
The Ministry of Transportation will save costs on construction, and pass those higher costs onto TransLink in the form of higher maintenance and operating costs.
