In the EA for the Stage 2 extension there are plans to add stations at Gladstone and Walkley at the same time.

Gladstone is planned to be double tracked. Walkley is not, because the underpass structure is not wide enough to accommodate 2 tracks and there's not enough money to widen it.

I suppose that if the station was positioned far enough north or south of Walkley that the single track could split before/after the underpass it would work, but then the platform would probably be too far away from Walkley.
