I think because of Vancouver's large mass of buildings, a lot of photos are taken at quite a distance, which would give the effect of 1 massive blob. Pictures of Manhattan look like a giant blob of concrete, when that's clearly not the case. Because Calgary is mainly a tightly packed office core, you can get a good close up of the Skyline, hence it gives the appearance of more variety. Though Calgary's star office tower, "The Bow", is seafoam green.
