I don't understand this mentality, and I don't mean to point you out in particular, but I've seen it in posting from Retail-Insider.com as well.

I speak as someone who is half Canadian, although I haven't lived in Canada since the 1970's, I have a fondness for all things Canada. I find it disturbing that there seems to be a certain amount of glee in seeing Target fail. I believe Target was very foolish in the manner that they expanded in to Canada, but to see them fail and put so many Canadians out of work is sad to me.

Regarding Nordstrom, I don't see any arrogance in the manner that they are expanding. They are hiring Canadian managers, they are studying the market judiciously, and they are tailoring their stores to their individual markets. I'm going to guess that if you were to go to the Calgary store and then immediately go to the Vancouver store (when it opens) you will find significant difference, all market related.
