Agreed. They tend to see themselves as the founding or the charter group. The one that everyone else eventually gravitates to.
It's actually been a major evolution in the past 40 years or so for the old stock
Anglo-Canadian group to even see French Canadians as a founding or at least a charter group parallel to them (ie one that immigrants and even some anglos would integrate with), but now I'd say the majority has more or less come around to this. At least the élites largely have.
