Then don't compare. Just use NYC as a case study on how to do it right. When the first subway line was installed over 100 years ago the tallest building was comparable to Austin's now. Then everything grew. Hopefully Austin will take this point in time and make it the beginning of a great new direction for the city. And four blocks is not far to walk for a subway stop... anywhere.
