I've just always been an advocate of development that was sympathetic to its surroundings, especially in the historic core. This project fits the bill to a T. Also, it's rare that I don't know of a serious project for Downtown Los Angeles. JDR, slap this one on the front page!
Also, just a clarification, when I say that I am a fan of responsible development, I don't mean that said development has to be the same height and massing as all of its surroundings. Take the Best Proposal Ever (TM) Park Fifth, for example.
See how all the lines match up perfectly with the surrounding historic building? It's that kind of visual homage that I love. Note especially the part on the right next to the Subway Terminal Building, and how there is almost an individual cube that lines up directly with said Subway Terminal Building. I love that shit.
